If we wake up every morning, looking for validation from the people around us, it might last for a while. But eventually, at some point, we’ll be deserted by someone.

You see, people have been letting each other down for a long time. And all signs indicate that we’re going to continue letting each other down for many years to come.

But why?

Well, it’s all because we’re fallen beings, who at our core are sinful and self-focused; who at our core are deserters.

Thankfully, God sent a Defender.

Jesus

God sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ (John 3:16), to die for us so that we would never be deserted again. With Him we are never deserted and we are always defended!

I’ll say it again: With Jesus, we are never deserted and always defended!

Heard It All Before?

I realize that some of this can be difficult to hear. Maybe this morning, some of you are simply not feeling very defended. Maybe some of you feel completed deserted?

It’s okay to feel that way. Believe it or not, you’re not the first person to ever feel abandoned and deserted.

Psalm 35

In the Psalms, David wrote a prayerful cry out to the Lord, begging for His defence:

22 Lord, you have seen this; do not be silent. Do not be far from me, Lord. 23 Awake, and rise to my defence! Contend for me, my God and Lord.

Maybe this is your cry today?

Feeling Defended?

For some of us we are feeling defended. Why not lift up a prayer for someone else today. Look around, wherever you’re at right now. Ask God to guide your eyes to someone who needs defended today.

Why not cry out to the Lord on their behalf? Help them be defended today.

CAN I GET YOUR FEEDBACK?

When was the last time you felt deserted? How did you overcome that feeling or situation?

Your thoughts are valuable! Why not leave a few?
