Why There Are No Popularity Rules When Building a Christmas Playlist

December is just around the corner!

Everywhere we go, Christmas music seems to fill every building we walk into. For some, the constant tidings of good cheer become quite annoying. These folks likely wish the Christmas tunes would hold off until a week before Christmas Day.

Personally, I don’t understand this feeling. I love Christmas music and start whistling Christmas tunes as soon as Halloween is over.

When I’m listening to Christmas music I get all nostalgic.

I think back to my childhood and good times with friends and family. It doesn’t really matter what type of music either.

The other night, a friend of ours was over. She laughed when she heard “The Merry Christmas Polka” by the Andrew Sisters came up on iTunes. I didn’t care. I feel like Christmas music brings a chance to dance and laugh, not worrying about looking goofy.

That being said, I have to say the pop-rock versions of Christmas songs definitely climb a bit higher on the playlist frequency. For example, a couple of years ago, a friend posted an amazing pop-rock version of my favourite Christmas song.

Little Drummer Boy

This version was put together by Canadian musician, Sean Quigley. The music video is equally as well done as the song. I’m quite convinced that Quigley’s Christmas tune will show up on my playlist at some point in the next few weeks.

Here’s Quigley’s rendition of “Little Drummer Boy”:
