I want to do a follow-up post to yesterday’s post titled, “The Extras of the Gospel“.

We started this week by imagining the whole Gospel story had been culminated into a film series. Then we looked at the final passage of Paul‘s second letter to Timothy as scene from the movie, “Letters To Timothy. Here’s that passage:

19 Greet Priscilla and Aquila and the household of Onesiphorus. 20 Erastus stayed in Corinth, and I left Trophimus ill in Miletus. 21 Do your best to get here before winter. Eubulus greets you, and so do Pudens, Linus, Claudia and all the brothers and sisters. 22 The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you all.” (2 Tim. 4:19-22)

Our focus yesterday was on the Extras of this story: Eubules, Pudens, Linus and Claudia.

As we looked at Scripture, we found that this verse is their only mention of their names. These 4 people seem to be of no importance in comparison to the numerous other characters that are mentioned.

The Bible Is Truth

We need to remember that the Bible is not some story that was made into a movie. It’s an account of real people who lived true historical events; which are often mentioned in other ancient writings.

As we uncovered in yesterday’s postthere’s huge value in digging into Biblical study. There are so many resources available to us in this day and age. These resources help us take a single verse and open up the pages of history.

And like yesterday, we find out how 4 Extras actually have important Lead Roles in greater story of the Gospel.

What About Us?

May we never think that we are simply Extras in the Gospel Story. Like the 4 characters in 2 Timothy 4:21, we all have a Lead Role as long as we’re willing to  accept them.

We have no idea what sharing our faith with friend, family member, neighbour or coworker, will do for the sake of the Gospel. Who knows how far the story will continue after we’ve told them about Jesus?

Remember Pamponia

Pomponia, from yesterday’s research was a lady who never received a mention in the Bible. And yet, because of her willingness to share Christ with a young girl named Claudia from Southeast Britain; an unreached area would be opened to the Gospel.

As history tells us, Britain would end up creating an Empire of their own, ruling the modern world. Rightly or wrongly, this would give the church opportunity to send thousands of missionaries to the four corners of the planet.

Always remember that you or I could be Pamponia.

CAN I GET YOUR FEEDBACK?

What if you knew that your friend or neighbour was a future key role in the Gospel story? How would this change your motivation to tell them about Jesus?

Your thoughts are valuable! Why not leave a few?
