When Did You Last Read the Book of Acts?

When was the last time you read the Book of Acts? If your answer is “quite recently,” then you’ll understand why I believe it should be a frequent read for every believer.

Acts is a powerful account of Holy Spirit-driven events that unfolded after Christ’s ascension. God’s design during these days was to increase the number of believers and grow the church in a supernatural way.

Through the Acts, we see how God accomplished His purposes in a concise amount of time through a group of disciples who had now become apostles.

Dedicated Followers of the Acts

We encounter dedicated followers in the Acts who risked everything to see God’s purposes achieved. These individuals are key reasons why we should read this book often. Their bold faith challenges us to examine our own.

Unlike the Epistles, Acts is written with a real-time feel. As the accounts unfold, it’s almost impossible not to be drawn into the lives of these early believers. Suddenly, we start to ask ourselves some tough questions:

• Could I do that? Would I do that?
• What if I were that confident?
• What if I were that dedicated?”

Feeling Impassioned and Empowered by the Book of Acts

Before you know it, you’re feeling impassioned and empowered! You may not witness the same miraculous events, but you will definitely see the hand of God moving in your life.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8, ESV).
