We are bombarded with messages to improve ourselves. “The new you!” “Self-care and self-love!” These and similar pitches push us to the centre of our own attention and at times, the centre of our adoration. This type of thinking and living doesn’t last.

Almost always, they will place themselves in David’s place, overcoming the giant, Goliath. And that’s where a false Gospel slips into that chapter. We take the place of Jesus in our own story!
In reality, we’re on the hill, looking down at the battlefield in fear. Only after Jesus has overcome and defeated our giants, can we run down to victory BEHIND Him!
