HOW TO MAKE THE PATH TO YOUR DREAMS A LITTLE STRAIGHTER
Dreams, goals, and aspirations:
They are all beneficial in so many ways. They keep us focused on the tasks at hand and they generally keep us moving in forward direction.
Of course, there will always be ups and downs, and sometimes we might have to take a few steps backward. Nevertheless, the hope is that each day, we get a little bit closer to our ultimate dream or goal; whatever that may be.
Proverbs 3 gives some unique teaching into how we can keep on track with our various aspirations. The chapter begins with,
“My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity.” (3:1-2)
Most dreams and goals come with some desire for peace and prosperity. Therefore, this chapter must hold some valuable insight. Further down in the chapter, we read,
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (3:5-6)
Moving Forward:
Our forward path toward our goals can be full of twists and turns. However, by trusting in the Lord and submitting to Him; we’re going to find that path to be a little straighter. This morning, I’d encourage you to carefully work through each Proverb found in chapter 3.
As each verse passes through your mind, prayerfully consider your dreams and aspirations. Ask God to show you the areas of dreaming that you’re not fully trusting in Him for or perhaps, not fully submitting to Him. When God answers, make a plan on paper to trust more and keep the path to your dream straight.
