HOW TO BECOME A PARENT THAT SHOWS BIBLICAL LOVE
What Every Parent Needs To Know.
The excitement is overwhelming for a young couple, about to have a baby.
That moment, months before the baby arrives, looking at that positive pregnancy test or filling out those initial papers for adoption; the couple is filled with elattion. They realise that they are no longer just husband and wife; they are now father and mother.
They haven’t seen this child, they don’t know who this little person will be. And yet, they’ve already fallen in love with that tiny baby. It’s overwhelming…in a good way!
A few years down the road, and maybe the addition of a brother or sister, or a couple of them; and that word ‘overwhelming‘ takes on a whole new meaning!
The Joyful (and Not So Joyful) Parenting Moments
Parenting children is a joy when our kids are being obedient, following the household rules, and submitting to us as parents. But that little snapshot doesn’t seem to come around as often as we’d like it to (or at least it doesn’t in my house).
How can parents effectively show love when their children are in rebellion?
When they’re not obeying, not following the rules, and not submitting to their parents; what does showing love look like?
Our Relationship With God Provides Answers.
This week, we’re going to look at our relationship with our Heavenly Father, to gain some insight on what showing Biblical love looks like.
Through the lens of our relationship with God, we’ll see that Biblical parenting comes down to a balance between consequence and compassion. A balance that God shows us each and every day.
When parenting gets overwhelming, knowing when to choose consequence and when to choose compassion can make all the difference.
