Be the Church That Reaches Out
Church as a Lifeboat
God created humanity to thrive in a perfect world, but sin disrupted that plan. Since Adam and Eve’s fall, every person has been adrift in a broken and sinful world. Through Jesus’ sacrifice, the Church (His Bride) can become a place of rescue for lost sinners. Think of the Church as a lifeboat, or better yet, a global fleet of lifeboats.
Each local church represents one, extending safety and salvation to those still lost in sin. Your church is a lifeboat, a rescue mission in a sea of sin.
Rescued by Grace
Some of us accepted salvation immediately, while others clung to sin’s debris, hesitant to trust the lifeboat. But no matter how we came to faith, we now belong to the greater mission of the church: reaching out to rescue others.
Jesus didn’t save us to sit comfortably in the lifeboat. We’re called to extend a hand to those drowning in sin and invite them into the safety of Christ’s salvation.
The Call to Reach Out
The church as a lifeboat fulfills the Great Commission.
Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” (Read on Bible.com)
Unfortunately, some churches remain silent, refusing to reach out to the lost. They give excuses like, “We’re too full” or “That person is too far gone.” These churches miss the opportunity to add to their numbers and fulfill their purpose.
Your Church as a Lifeboat?
What kind of lifeboat are you? Is your church active in rescuing the lost, or is it sitting still, focused inward? A lifeboat requires action—extending hands, opening hearts, and using every resource to bring others to Jesus.
As Luke 19:10 reminds us: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” (Read on Bible.com)
Let’s be the church that reaches out, fulfilling our mission and offering hope to those who need it most.
