Individually & In Our Churches

I believe that Jesus would want us to embrace heaven early! Why? Here’s three important reasons:

1. Because We’re Brothers & Sisters

We need to embrace a heavenly mindset now, because we’re brothers and sisters.

As individuals and as the local, national or global church, we can choose to be mindful that we are all siblings. We can choose to think, speak and act like siblings.

Now, we’re still sinful with depraved minds (unlike in heaven), so sometimes we’re going to mess up. Sometimes we’re not going to get along. Sometimes we’re going to hurt each other.

Nevertheless, if we can keep our heavenly state in view, it will help us strive forward!

2. Because Hell Exists

The second reason we need to embrace a heavenly mindset now, is because hell is also a very real final season of humanity‘s existence. Just look at 2 Thessalonians 1:6-10:

“6 God is just: he will pay back trouble to those who trouble you 7 and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. 8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might 10 on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marvelled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.“

The Biblical truth is that many people will never see heaven!

Sure, popular cultural opinion (and many opinions in the church) will try to make a case for everyone going to heaven. Unfortunately, according to Scriptural evidence, they’re wrong.

Just because someone’s good, doesn’t mean they’ll crossover into heaven. Just because they’re our friend or family member, doesn’t mean they’ll crossover into heaven. Just because they’re married to us, doesn’t mean they crossover into heaven.

3. Because Unbelievers Could Be Future Siblings

The Biblical truth is that only through Jesus will we reach heaven. Each person must independently, choose to believe in and follow Jesus, for themselves. As Jesus Himself said,

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6).

That being said, for those of us who have already given our lives to Jesus, we have work to do! Jesus is counting on us to spread this message!

I believe that Jesus wants us to see everyone through heavenly eyes. Because with that view in mind, suddenly, they’re not strangers any more. They’re future siblings! All of a sudden, every life matters infinitely and eternally, just like they matter to Jesus.
