3 BENEFITS OF SERVING IN CAMP MINISTRY

Spring has sprung!

We’re leaving in just under an hour. Though snow is still falling here in Alberta, its April. Its time to go check on the camp. As many of your know, I direct a wilderness Bible camp during the summer months, called Whispering Pines Bible Camp.

The camp is located in the Albertan foothills. Head Northwest out of Calgary. If you manage to get to the village of Waiparous, keep going! From there its rough road, but pristine creation!

Today, we’ll be able to drive out most of the way. However, once we hit the actual camp road, we’ll have to use snowmobiles to get up the rest of the way. Of course, I should throw out a big thanks to the camp’s Facilities Overseer for providing our transportation!

It’s no surprise that one doesn’t go into camp ministry for the pay cheque. Though we realise the eternal benefits of seeing lives changed, which definitely makes it all worth while. However, there’s also a few added benefits.

  1. We spend time in God’s amazing creation.
  2. We spend time doing outdoor activity (like snowmobiling).
  3. We spend time with our families.

Today, I get to serve while spending the entire day in creation, with my oldest son. There’s no monetary value on that kind of experience!

What does Jude think? Well, he hasn’t been on a snowmobile since we left Alaska, a couple of years ago. Therefore, he has been stoked for a couple of days now! So, we better get packed up!
